Holding a master's degree in law and in political science, he started his career as chief editor at RTL and then as news director at Antenne 2. In the late 1980’s, he became director of the diversification at Strafor-Facom and then, general manager of the french division of the investment bank Morgan Grenfell & Co. In 1997, he joined the GrandVision group and became the general manager. He also holds various positions on boards of several companies including Promod, Delsey, Famar, Flamel Technologies and Ingenico. He is also visiting professor at Pekin University.
