Bio

Edward C. O’Bryan, M.D., M.B.A., C.P.E. Dr. O’Bryan is a transformational, seasoned physician executive leader with over 14 years of clinical and leadership experience in the telehealth and digital health spaces. He has developed telehealth and digital health programs that cover millions of lives annually through his high-quality, accessible, and scalable models. His role as CMO at Graham Healthcare Capital is to assist portfolio companies in realizing potential and evaluating new business opportunities and investment targets for clinical quality, effectiveness, and market & regulatory dynamics. Before coming to GHCC, Dr. O’Byran served as Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Clinical Operations for TruePill, a telehealth, digital pharmacy, and digital diagnostics company. There, he oversaw program and business development, quality, strategy provider network building, partnerships, and KPI development. Prior to Truepill he was the CMO, EVP & VPMA of Clinical Operations at Wellpath where he oversaw clinical in-person and telehealth operations in 38 states for over 300,000 patients a day. Before Wellpath, Dr. O’Bryan was at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where he served as the Enterprise CMO for Telehealth and Business Health and the Executive Director of MUSC Health Solutions, a novel system-wide accelerator for rapid commercialization of innovative digital medical products, services, partnerships, and ideas. He additionally served as the Medical Director of the Physicians Assistant Program and Chief of the Division of Telehealth. Dr. O’Bryan has also developed and overseen the Telehealth platforms at Wellpath, MUSC and Truepill that incorporate direct-to-consumer, corrections, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, specialty services, mental/behavioral health, psychiatry, insurers, and employer groups. His role was integral in the development of the HRSA-granted South Carolina Telehealth Center of Excellence (one of only two in the US) that is responsible for over 1.3 million telehealth encounters a year. Academically, Dr. O’Bryan maintains his position as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at MUSC where he was previously Chief of the Division of Global Health and Telehealth and Chief of the Health and Wellness Service Line. He has over $15 million dollars in funded research and numerous publications and academic presentations. He attended Davidson College, received his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, and his M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee. He is married to his wife Claire, and has two daughters, Evy and Tillie.
