Sugam Mehta is a Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer for Equities. Mr. Mehta joined GIP in 2023 and is based in New York. Prior to GIP, Mr. Mehta spent 18 years in various roles in Citi’s Risk Management division in New York. Most recently, Mr. Mehta served as the Global Head of Special Assets, a role in which he was responsible for managing Citi’s stressed and distressed portfolio across the Investment Bank, Commercial Bank and Private Bank. Previously, Mr. Mehta was Global Head of Leveraged Finance and Structured Credit Risk and before that he was a Senior Transactor in Special Assets for over 10 years. Mr. Mehta joined Citi as an Associate in the Power and Utilities Group of the Corporate Bank. Prior to Citi, Mr. Mehta worked at Standard Chartered Bank. Mr. Mehta holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University, a Master of Commerce from Annamalai University and an M.B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
