Don Gerne is a Managing Director and a member of the Investment Committee at Gemspring Capital. For nearly two decades, Don has worked across a broad range of industries including business services, industrial services, environmental services, healthcare, consumer, retail, telecommunications, energy and infrastructure. During this time, Don has worked on leverage buyouts, corporate divestitures, founder recapitalizations, asset acquisitions and growth equity investments representing close to $2 billion of invested equity and $3 billion of funded debt in approximately 25 platforms and add-on acquisitions. Prior to joining Gemspring, Don was a Partner at Metalmark Capital Partners. While at Metalmark, Don led all aspects of the investment process including origination, due diligence, legal documentation and transaction financing, in addition to collaborating with portfolio management teams to achieve value enhancement strategies. Don has served as a board member or observer for numerous companies, including WorldStrides, NNE, Monarch Midstream, MC2 Energy and Sebela Pharmaceuticals. Earlier in his career, Don worked at Greenhill Capital Partners, J.W. Childs Associates and Lehman Brothers. Don serves on the boards of Mantis, Skyline, and Zavation. Don received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
