Bio

Mr. Pottow is the Co-Founder of GCP Capital and has been a Partner and member of the investment committee of Greenhill Capital Partners since July 2002. Mr. Pottow worked with Mr. Niehaus in Morgan Stanley & Co.’s merchant banking department from 1986 to 1988. Mr. Pottow has more than 25 years of private equity investment experience, with a focus on energy companies. Previously, Mr. Pottow was a founding partner of Société Générale’s U.S. private equity affiliate SG Capital Partners and a Principal of Odyssey Partners, L.P. During his tenures at Odyssey Partners and SG from 1992 to 2002, Mr. Pottow sourced and executed seven energy related investments totaling $57 million which ultimately returned $188 million of value. Mr. Pottow worked with Mr. Niehaus in Morgan Stanley & Co.’s merchant banking department from 1986 to 1988. Mr. Pottow has been a Director of Everlast Energy, Hercules Offshore, Triana Energy, U.S. Exploration and SV Resource Partners, along with other GCP portfolio companies. Mr. Pottow is currently a Director of Pacific Coast Energy Holdings, a GCP portfolio company. Mr. Pottow is a past member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and the advisory board for Oil & Gas Investor online. Mr. Pottow is a cum laude graduate of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (1986) and Harvard Business School (1990), from which he graduated with high distinction as a Baker Scholar.
