As a Partner at Founders, Rod contributes to portfolio company strategy, is a sounding board for human capital development at portfolio companies, leads firm investment decision-making, and is a principal investor. Founders is a family firm that combines 30 years’ private equity experience in over 80 companies with deep operating knowledge. The firm invests its partners’ own capital and focuses on applying operating know-how in medium-sized food businesses, with a view to building thriving organizations over the long term. In 1996, Rod co-founded Tricor Pacific Capital, Inc., a private equity firm investing institutional funds in mid-market companies across North America. He led the firm as Managing Partner for Funds I, II, III and IV, with total committed capital of $1.2 billion. He remains active, continues to be a major shareholder and continues to chair the Investment Committee in Fund IV and the successor Fund V. Rod is also a founding partner and a principal shareholder in Pender West Capital Partners Inc. Pender West maintains investments in a broad-based private equity portfolio and looks to invest its own capital in operating companies at the lower end of the mid-market. Rod obtained Bachelor of Commerce degree and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Manitoba.
