Lou Serafini Jr. joined Fengate in 1995 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2002. During his tenure, Fengate has experienced tremendous growth by earning the trust of a growing group of institutional investors and securing more than $6 billion in capital under management. With a commitment to top tier client service, Lou has built a best-in-class team to work closely with Fengate’s valued investors and the firm’s industry partners. Lou oversees the executive management team and investor relations, and he is responsible for the overall vision for the firm and investment activities. Lou spearheads Fengate’s Investment Committees and sits on the Board of the General Partners to each fund. Under Lou’s leadership, Fengate has achieved Platinum Club member status as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, retaining this designation since 2007, and has been certified as a Great Place to Work®. In 2022, Fengate was named one of Canada’s Best Workplaces™, one of Canada’s Best Workplaces for Women™, and one of Canada’s 2022 Best Workplaces™ for Today’s Youth. In January 2022, the firm become a signatory for the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA) Diversity in Action initiative. A business thought leader, Lou is a frequent keynote speaker for industry conferences and media commentator. He is recognized for his authenticity and the high level of trust he has secured with Fengate’s investors, partners and portfolio companies. Lou is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council of Public-Private Partnerships and a former member of the Board of Directors of Hamilton Utilities Corporation. He is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization. Building on Fengate’s legacy of generous community support, Lou established the Fengate Community Foundation in 2010; an approximately $2 million grant in support of numerous charitable organizations in Canada and around the world, with a focus on children and youth programs. Lou is a regular supporter and committee member for an extensive range of charitable events.
