Bio

At Factor89, Jim is responsible for sourcing, deal structuring and investor relations. Jim has a vast personal and business network, and he has utilized this network to build meaningful, long term business relationships. In 1998, Jim founded Capital Concepts Holdings, LLC, a Chicago-based private equity investment firm. Capital Concepts has invested in over 40 growth and control investments. He also co-founded CapX Partners, an equipment leasing finance company and a licensee of the Small Business Administration’s Small Business Investment Company Program. Prior to Cap Concepts and CapX, Jim co-founded and later sold the data-consolidation company, MaxMiles. Jim started his career at American National Bank where he oversaw credit, mortgage, treasury management, and technology-business units during his tenure. Jim has extensive board experience in diverse industries. He is board chairman of Quality Control Corporation, a specialty machining and product assembly company. He is also on the corporate boards of: KeHE Distributors, (one of the largest specialty and organic food distributors in the US).; HallStar Corporation (specialty chemicals); and, Twinbrook BDC (direct lending finance company). Jim was the former vice chairman of MB Financial Corporation, a $21 billion bank holding company that sold to Fifth Third Corporation in 2019. He is on the board of the Chicago Fellowship, is a Lifetime Trustee of Wellness House, the Commonwealth Club of Chicago and is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Jim earned a BA in economics from the University of Illinois in 1983 and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1988 with concentrations in finance and marketing. He is also a graduate of the Stanford University Director’s College.
