Bio

Hugh is a founding director of Equitix and serves as the group’s Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee. He is responsible for investor relations and has managed the establishment of Equitix’s six core funds. As Chair of the Investment Committee for all funds and managed accounts, Hugh oversees investment and portfolio management functions and is responsible for the administration and optimisation of fund assets. He is actively involved in the majority of Equitix acquisitions and has managed the bids for all Equitix co-investments, including successful bids for John Laing, Sheringham Shoal, Electricity North West and High Speed 1. He has also led various teams resulting in investments such as Wakefield Waste, offshore transmission owners (OFTOs), PFI Street Lighting and Local Improvement Finance Trust portfolios and Leeds Mental Health. Prior to joining Equitix, Hugh was Commercial Manager at John Laing where he managed investments in the social housing and hospital sectors, including Bart’s and the Royal London Hospital, as well as the acquisition of two Canadian hospitals. Prior to John Laing, he worked for Bechtel Corporation both in London and the United States, working in the power, airport development and civil sectors. Hugh graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental and Ecological Engineering from the University of Newcastle. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
