Alfonso Diaz de Atauri is an Investment Director, Head of Iberia, leading Equitix practice for the Iberian Peninsula ensuring the local access and development of proprietary transactions for Equitix. Alfonso has been instrumental in signing agreements with listed companies to access, on bilateral basis, to their portfolio of projects, entering into the Hungarian market and other high-profile transactions since his time at Equitix. He has over 15 years of experience in energy and infrastructure projects across a wide range of sectors. Prior to joining Equitix, he worked for leading financial advisory firms always focused on energy and infrastructure, including BBVA Securities and Rothschild across different geographies including the UK, Europe, and the USA. During that time, he worked on a number of high-profile European projects (privatization of EDP, sale of Abengoa’s transmission networks in Brazil, the sale of Ferrovial Servicios or the debt restructuring of the railway operator TP Ferro). He started his career in New York before moving to France and then to London. He also worked in PwC restructuring many renewable energy projects after the Spanish energy reform back in 2014. He has an upper second-class honours degree in Law and Business (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas E-3) and holds an MBA from INSEAD. He has also passed the all the CAIA exams certifications and the first two exams of the CFA. He is Spanish born and speaks fluent English and French.
