A founding partner of Energy Spectrum, Mr. Spann is responsible for screening and originating investment opportunities, conducting extensive due diligence on potential opportunities, assisting certain portfolio companies in the evaluation and completion of follow-on acquisitions and financings and evaluating the energy industry's macroeconomic trends. Mr. Spann also serves as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Spann has 33 years of experience financing companies and managing private equity investments in the energy industry. Prior to forming Energy Spectrum, Mr. Spann served as a Managing Director of CIGNA Private Securities, where he specialized in (1) companies that produce, process and transport oil and gas and (2) petrochemical companies. Mr. Spann participated in investments of over $3 billion in private securities as an institutional investor, including direct responsibility for an active portfolio of $1.5 billion of private securities of energy and petrochemical companies. Mr. Spann received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with highest honors from Syracuse University's School of Management and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut.
