Bio

Miguel Valenzuela is a Co-founder of EMX Capital. He was a Principal at The Carlyle Group where he worked since 2003 and was responsible for originating, evaluating and structuring investment opportunities. During this period he participated in the acquisition of Lowes Cinema (Cinemex), and led the Hispanic Teleservices Corporation and Maxi Prenda’s acquisitions. Miguel has actively participated in implementing value added initiatives and executing exits of the investments. Miguel has been a private equity investor in Mexico for over 12 years. Prior to joining Carlyle, Miguel worked for Compass Group in Mexico, where he was responsible for closing the acquisition of a stake in SEI Mexico. Prior to that, Miguel directed VA Investments, a risk capital firm sponsored by Banco Santander, where he participated in the acquisition of Hoteles Krystal. During this period, he advised on acquisitions for private investors amounting to a total of $400 million. Before that, he was the Co-Manager of the Emerging Mexico Fund for Santander Investment. Miguel Valenzuela received his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business and his B.A. in business Administration from ITAM in Mexico City.
