Mr. Johnson is a Managing Director and leads EIG’s Direct Lending investment activities globally, across Upstream, Midstream, Power, Renewables and related Energy Infrastructure. He is based in the firm’s Houston office and serves as a member of the Executive, Investment and Valuation Committees. Mr. Johnson has over 25 years’ experience in debt financing, including 20 years in the Energy sector. Prior to joining EIG in 2015, Mr. Johnson spent 17 years with Wells Fargo, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Energy & Power Leveraged Finance. In this capacity, he was responsible for originating, structuring and executing bank and institutional loans, 2nd lien loans, bridge financing, high yield bonds, private debt and mezzanine debt. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mr. Johnson worked for Citicorp Securities in Leveraged Finance, Restructuring Advisory and Loan Syndications. Before beginning his financial career, he served four years in the US Marine Corps. Mr. Johnson earned a B.A. in History from the Sewanee – University of the South, and his M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. He is on the Board of Sewanee’s Babson Center for Global Commerce.
