Maddison Daines joined The Cynosure Group in 2021 and is responsible for overseeing tax planning and tax compliance for Cynosure’s fund entities. Having seen the “equity treadmill” firsthand while working on large, traditional private equity funds, she loves Cynosure’s collaborative approach that takes minority positions in companies and works with founders to grow their businesses. Prior to joining Cynosure, Maddison worked for Deloitte Tax for 8 years, where she specialized in investment management and focused on partnership tax compliance for private equity and venture capital funds. She also taught private equity training at the national training facility, Deloitte University. She graduated from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Business, where she received her B.S. in Accounting and Master of Accountancy. When Maddison was 16 years old, her grandmother taught her to do the bookkeeping for her father’s custom furniture business the old-fashioned way—entirely on paper by hand. Although she eventually converted to QuickBooks to save time, manually calculating sales and payroll taxes instilled a love of tracking, organizing, and managing company finances that has stuck with her ever since.
