Bio

Aurélien Roelens joined Cube IM in July 2010. In the energy sector, Aurélien was involved in the strong growth of Cube I’s wind power platform (Boralex Europe) including two build-ups and subsequent exit (2015) as well as in the acquisition of Cube I’s district heating platform Idex (2011) and in asset management of HPP, PV and WtE companies. In the fibre sector, Aurélien notably contributed to the acquisition of Covage in 2011 and its successful development through tenders, private deployments, and the bolt-on acquisition of Tutor in 2016, as well as in the launch of the Connecting Europe Broadband Fund and its initial investments until 2018. He led Cube II’s investments in dst telecomunicaçoes and in G.Network (2018) and, since, works on fostering their growth (e.g. G.Network’s fundraising in 2020). He is a Board member of dst telecomunicações and G.Network and former Board member of DWS and WWS. Since 2010, Aurélien acts as Cube IM’s ESG Coordinator spearheading ESG initiatives and organizing ESG developments across the portfolios’ companies, which were recognized recently through the SWEN’s ESG Best Practices Honours. He is also a member of the GRESB Infrastructure Standards Committee and of the Sustainable Finance workgroup of the Haut Comité de la Place Financière and co-chairs the ESG Club of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association. Aurélien began his career in finance in 2008 in London, before joining Oddo in 2009, working on the execution of several French M&A and ECM transactions. Prior to that, he gained some experience working with public counterparts on environmental topics. In his spare time, he is a visiting professor at HEC Paris and heads a microfinance operation in Togo. Aurélien, CAIA®, graduated with highest honors from the Ecole des Mines (MSc in Civil Engineering) and from HEC Paris (MSc in International Finance), with additional training in Management (EM Lyon) and in Economics and certificates in sustainability (HEC, PRI). A French citizen, he is fluent in English and French, has good command of Portuguese and a basic one of German and Spanish.
