Derek leads the Portfolio Design & Construction (PD&C) group. PD&C is responsible for recommending the Fund’s risk appetite, and for strategic and tactical allocations Prior to his current role, he held the roles of Managing Director, Head of Active Investment Management and Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Engineering – both within Total Fund Management (TFM). Prior to joining TFM, Derek was a Senior Portfolio Manager in the Global Tactical Asset Allocation group within Public Market Investments. Before joining CPP Investments, Derek held a variety of positions related to quantitative investing and indexing at Barclays Global Investors and Morgan Stanley Capital International SA. Derek holds an MS in Computing and Information Science from Queen’s University and an MBA from INSEAD. He is a CFA charterholder.
