Bio

Phil Bussey is a Senior Vice President & the Chief ESG Officer at Carrick Capital Partners where he focuses on optimizing the performance of portfolio companies, and overseeing policy execution and the Carrick ESG Steering Committee, which is responsible for the implementation of Carrick’s ESG policy. Phil works closely with company CEOs and executive teams to drive operational improvements across all organizational disciplines. He is responsible for the design of standardized procedures and performance measures, institutionalizing operational consistency and governance to assure value realization and continuous improvement across the portfolio. Leveraging more than 25 years of experience, he specializes in the development and execution of corporate strategy, the acceleration of revenue growth, and the evaluation and enhancement of functional processes. Phil’s role at Carrick as it relates to ESG policy includes the assessment of sustainability-related and societal impacts. This may result from investments; monitoring the performance of investments relative to such ESG efforts; and the integration of ESG considerations into Carrick’s workplace by creating an equal opportunity environment to develop a diverse group of talented investment professionals and staff. Prior to joining Carrick, Phil provided a variety of consulting services to private equity firms and their portfolio companies. In advance of that, Phil held operating positions at private equity firm Vista Equity Partners as part of their internal consulting arm and within multiple portfolio companies. Earlier in his career, Phil performed a variety of functional roles concentrated on cross-functional process improvement at the credit card divisions of both Citigroup and American Express as well as in the financial institutions practice of Marsh & McLennan. He began his career focused on business process consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers (then Coopers & Lybrand). Phil earned an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Political Science from Columbia University. Phil divides his time between Chicago and Miami Beach. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and traveling with his wife.
