As Senior Operating Partner, Johan Duramy oversees the teams at CapitalG devoted to actively supporting portfolio companies post-investment, from initial growth-stage scaling to IPO and beyond. Johan has engaged in deep, multi-month projects advising Airbnb, Credit Karma, CrowdStrike, Duolingo, Gusto, Pindrop, and many other companies. CapitalG’s robust growth, marketing & communications, talent, and data science teams, which report to Johan, operate with a singular mission: to provide hands-on operational and strategic support and critical connections to help companies scale. To date more than 2500 Googlers have advised CapitalG portfolio leaders and employees in the areas of go-to-market, people and talent, and product and engineering. Johan joined CapitalG in 2015 from Google, where he led partnerships for an internal autonomously-run startup (Helpouts); he also held leadership roles in Google’s sales organization. Earlier, Johan was a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Strategy Group in London, where he advised retail, leisure and technology-focused private equity firms on strategy and growth. Johan holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics and Management Studies from Cambridge University. He loves cooking (he was previously a professional chef) and cold-water swimming (he has successfully swum from Alcatraz to San Francisco six times).
