Bio

Gene Frantz is a leading investor in cybersecurity and enterprise tech. His track record includes backing some of the most significant tech companies of the past decade, including CrowdStrike (CRWD), Zscaler (ZS), Freshworks (FRSH) and Looker (acquired by Google). Collectively, his investments at CapitalG have achieved nine major exits, including four IPOs, and are worth more than $125B. Gene’s most recent investments include Orca Security and Expel. Gene joined CapitalG at the firm’s inception in 2013. Before then, he led technology and telecommunications investments for private equity firm TPG Capital and for Oracle Corporation's venture capital group. Prior to Oracle, he served as a vice president at Morgan Stanley. Gene holds a B.S. from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford University. Outside of work, Gene enjoys spending time outdoors and reading everything from historical nonfiction to self-help books.
