Bio

Bob Bianco is an Operating Partner at Calera Capital with nearly 25 years of experience building and leading successful logistics and transportation management enterprises. Mr. Bianco is the former president of Menlo Logistics, the global supply chain unit of Con-way, Inc. In 2015, Menlo generated some $1.7 billion in revenues and nearly $50 million in EBITDA. He also served as an executive vice president of the parent company. Con-way was acquired by XPO Logistics (NYSE) in October 2015. Mr. Bianco joined the former CNF (predecessor to Con-way) in 1989 as a management trainee. He was one of the first employees of Menlo Logistics when the company was founded as a CNF startup in 1992. He was named vice president of operations for Menlo Logistics in 1997 and became president in 2002. As president Mr. Bianco had executive responsibility for the strategic development, financial performance and business growth of Menlo’s global operations, which spanned North America and 20 countries, employing over 10,000 people at 160 locations worldwide. Under his leadership from 2002 through 2015, he led the consistent growth and profitability of one of the industry’s most respected third party logistics providers, growing net revenues over $500 million or 175 percent. Mr. Bianco began his career as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Germany, he was responsible for managing transportation of war-fighting supplies to combat units in Europe. Among his professional affiliations are membership in the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), and as a member of the board of directors of the International Warehouse and Logistics Association. He also serves on the Board of Rock-it Cargo, a former Calera portfolio company. A native of San Francisco, California, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree from the University of San Francisco. Bob lives in San Francisco with his wife and three sons. In his spare time he enjoys golf, skiing, and watching his boys play sports.
