Her career at Duke Energy included executive leadership roles in public policy, government relations, environment health & safety, corporate communications and crisis management functions. She served as the company’s Chief Communications Officer and President of the Duke Energy Foundation for over 10 years. Bowman started her career in 1978 at Northeast Utilities in Hartford, Conn. Outside of her work in energy and the environment, Roberta serves on the Board of Trustees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. And in 2019, she was elected to the Board of Directors of UPL, one of the world’s leading agrochemical businesses focused on sustainable agriculture. Roberta served as an independent director of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), one of the world’s longest running women’s professional sports associations. She completed her six-year limit of Board service at the end of 2017, serving as Chair of the Board 2016-2017. In 2018, at the request of the LPGA Commissioner, she accepted a limited term assignment as the LPGA’s Chief Brand and Communications Officer. In this role, she was a member of the LPGA’s executive leadership team with responsibilities for communications, public relations, television, website/digital, social media, branding, marketing and the LPGA’s creative department.
