Before Paul made the transition to the financial sector he held a wide variety of financial jobs with the Thyssen-Bornemisza group. This period shaped the business approach that still defines his way of working. He established the M&A practice at the bank of the Oranje Nassau group before expanding the merchant banking activities at Van Lanschot Bankiers. Paul has been involved with Van Lanschot Participaties, now Bolster, since 1989. Paul is a partner in Bolster. “Success in our business depends on understanding the art of recognizing the hidden champions. Sound, really distinctive, and with a strong niche focus. I take pleasure in challenging our team to look at things differently, embrace serendipity, find the real jewels. The next phase is certainly no less interesting to me: to work with the entrepreneurs to create strategies that lead to real development in industrial and other terms.” Paul studied Business Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Business Administration at the Graduate School of Management in Delft. Paul also holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.
