Bio

William M. (Bill) Isaac, Director, has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry and is currently senior managing director of FTI Consulting, serving as Global Head of FTI’s Financial Institutions group. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Isaac founded the Secura Group, a leading financial institutions consulting firm. LECG acquired the Secura Group in 2007 and Mr. Isaac remained with the financial services group at LECG through early 2011. Prior to forming Secura, Mr. Isaac headed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation during the banking crisis of the 1980s, serving under Presidents Carter and Reagan from 1978 through 1985. Mr. Isaac also serves as Chairman of Fifth Third Bancorp, one of the nation’s leading banking companies and is the author of Senseless Panic: How Washington Failed America. In his role as FDIC Chairman (1981-1985), Mr. Isaac played a leading role in many of the most important issues concerning financial institution supervision and regulation that confronted the government, and structured some of the most significant financial assistance transactions in the history of the FDIC. Mr. Isaac also served as Chairman of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and as a member of the Depository Institutions Deregulation Committee and the Vice President’s Task Group on Regulation of Financial Services. Before his appointment to the FDIC, Mr. Isaac served as vice president, general counsel and secretary of First Kentucky National Corporation. Mr. Isaac received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Miami University and graduated from the College of Law of The Ohio State University. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Miami University in 1984. Mr. Isaac is involved extensively in thought leadership relating to the financial services industry and provides advice to policy makers worldwide. His articles are also frequently found in the American Banker, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the Washington Times, Forbes and the Washington Post. Mr. Isaac appears frequently on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg, Fox News and other television and radio outlets.
