Bio

Ryan is a Managing Director with the firm. He is a proven leader in structuring domestic and international projects with a diverse legal and commercial background spanning 20 years. Most recently, as VP Commercial with Steelhead LNG and Chief Operating Officer of ACM LNG, Ryan has held a broad senior executive role, including oversight of the commercial value chain, corporate and tax structuring and project finance strategy. In this role, Ryan also led negotiations in North America, Europe and Asia on business-critical activities (e.g. equity investments, LNG offtake, gas supply, site acquisition, engineering agreements, power supply, investment advisory mandates and credit facilities), as well as establishing and implementing an intellectual property strategy, including leading trademark and patent applications. In pre-Steelhead roles, as both a business and legal advisor, Ryan led the establishment of domestic and international joint ventures within energy and housing sectors, advised both proponents and financiers of renewable energy projects (wind, solar, hydro, geothermal) and supported acquisitions and divestments of energy projects in North America and Europe. In addition, as a solicitor qualified in Canada, England and Wales and New York, Ryan has represented some of the world’s largest institutional and investment banks and asset managers in each of those jurisdictions in complex international capital markets and lending transactions. Ryan previously served as a director on the board of the Vancouver Aquarium and remains a member of the organization’s Governance Council. He is an avid golfer and enjoys adventure travel, the highlight of which thus far was a tall ship sailing journey from Argentina through Antarctica to South Africa.
