Raymond Groth is a Managing Director at Axum. Mr. Groth’s responsibilities at Axum include identifying, evaluating, and structuring potential transactions. He brings decades of capital markets and mergers and acquisitions experience to Axum. Mr. Groth is an adjunct professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, and a member of the board of directors of Patriot Risk Management, Inc. Previously, Mr. Groth served as head of the Mergers and Acqusitions group at First Union Securities (now Wells Fargo). Prior to that, he was with the Mergers and Acqusitions group at The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse), where he led numerous acquisitions, including DuPont’s acquisition of Conoco, Inc., the sale of Hughes Aircraft Company to General Motors Corporation, B.A.T. Industries acquisition of Marshall Field & Company, and the sale of Piedmont Aviation to USAirways. Mr. Groth joined First Boston after practicing law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore for seven years in New York. Mr. Groth received a bachelor of business administration in accounting (with honors) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a juris doctorate from Yale University Law School.
