Mr. Gorbounov is a Managing Director of Atlas’s credit strategy, having joined in March 2020, and is based in New York. Prior to joining Atlas, Mr. Gorbounov was a distressed debt analyst at Reorg Research, where he covered complex stressed, distressed and bankrupt credits. Before Reorg, he was a senior analyst at Casern Capital Management, a start-up distressed hedge fund. Prior to Casern, Mr. Gorbounov was an analyst at Redwood Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar credit-focused hedge fund, where he was responsible for evaluating stressed, distressed and performing credit opportunities across multiple industries and geographies. While at Redwood, Mr. Gorbounov served on a number of formal and informal creditors’ committees. Mr. Gorbounov started his career at Rocaton Investment Advisors, an institutional investment consultant that is now part of Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for distressed and special situations manager research. A native of Veliky Novgorod, Russia, Mr. Gorbounov holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Bowdoin College and an MBA with Dean’s Honors and Distinction from Columbia Business School, where he was a member of the Value Investing Program. Mr. Gorbounov is a CFA Charterholder.
