Dr. Lack joined Athyrium in 2013 as a Partner. Dr. Lack has broad investment experience in the healthcare sector across a diverse range of asset classes, geographies and transaction types. Over the course of his career, Dr. Lack has been a part of over two dozen healthcare companies as an investor, director and/or as a part of the management team. Prior to joining Athyrium, Dr. Lack was a Managing Director at the Cortec Group, a private equity firm with over $1 billion under management that specializes in profitable middle-market companies. Before Cortec, Dr. Lack was a Principal at New Leaf Venture Partners (NLVP), a healthcare investment firm managing over $1 billion in assets. While at NLVP, Dr. Lack was involved with numerous public and private investments in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, medical device and HCIT spaces. During his tenure at NLVP, Dr. Lack also founded and led Durata Therapeutics (NASDAQ: DRTX; acquired by Actavis). Prior to NLVP, Dr. Lack started his investment career as an Associate at Oxford Bioscience Partners and was previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company. Dr. Lack was also the Director of Strategic Planning for the New York City Department of Education, an organization with over 135,000 employees and a $12 billion operating budget. Dr. Lack received a Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and graduated with honors from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.
