Peter Johnston is a senior international mining executive, having recently retired as Head of Global Nickel Assets for Glencore, where he was responsible for mine operations and processing facilities in Australia, Canada, New Caledonia and Norway. Peter was previously Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Minara Resources Limited, Executive General Manager of Western Mining Corporation’s nickel and gold divisions, Olympic Dam operations, Queensland Fertilisers business and human resources function. Peter has also held senior executive roles with Alcoa of Australia Limited. Peter has had a long and industrious career with over 35 years of experience, building up his extensive operations and development experience with major Australian and New Zealand Resources and Industrial companies. He has previously been Chairman of the Minerals Council of Australia, Chairman of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, Vice President of the Australian Mines and Metals Association and President of the Nickel Institute. Peter is a Director of US-based Tronox Limited, with previous Directorships of Minara Resources Limited, Silver Lake Resources Limited, Emeco Holdings Ltd and Central Norseman Gold Corporation Ltd.
