Bio

Laurent has been investing in private equity in technology and biotechnology for the past 10 years. His investments range from software companies to drug development companies. His most recent transactions include the sale of Softkinetic (a 3D and motion capture company) to Sony, and the investment by Kayne Partners in Source Intelligence (a SaaS platform that maps and analyzes supply chains for its customers). Previously, Laurent managed private equity investments in Europe, Asia and USA. Notable investments include those in MedApps (sold to Alere) and in iTeos (currently partnering with Pfizer in immunotherapy). Laurent’s investment approach has always been very entrepreneurial and focused on building relationships with the management in order to assist in building growth and value over the long term. Before becoming an investor, Laurent was a real estate developer in Europe where he successfully built office and residential properties in Brussels. He merged his company Urbis Development with Herpain to form Herpain Urbis. Herpain Urbis added retail investments and construction to its development business. Laurent sold his shares in the group after moving to the USA in 2011. Laurent serves on the board of a number of private companies in the USA, and also serves on the board of KBS Strategic Opportunity REIT II, a publicly-traded REIT based in Newport Beach, California. Laurent went to the Solvay Business School at the University of Brussels, Belgium. He and his wife Virginie now reside in Los Angeles with their three children, where he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Contemporary Arts (MOCA) in Los Angeles. Laurent also served as an advisor to Ullens Center for Contemporary Arts in Beijing. He and his wife, Virginie, have been married for 15 years and have three children.
