Mr. Kuryla joined Altra in 2008 after 13 years of senior operating experience in Perú and as a management consultant in the Andean region and Europe. Before joining Altra, Mr. Kuryla served as Deputy General Manager of Cementos Pacasmayo, one of the largest cement manufacturers in Perú. During this time, he redesigned the company’s commercial strategy, oversaw the construction, commissioning, and operation of a new zinc mining and processing business, and implemented planning and control processes with merit-based incentives. Prior to Cementos Pacasmayo, Mr. Kuryla served as General Manager of Textil San Cristóbal, a leading Peruvian textile manufacturer, where he led a complex restructuring and turnaround process out of the local equivalent of Chapter 11. He was previously an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where he was recruited to open McKinsey’s office in Perú and lead the local team during the first several years of McKinsey’s permanent presence in the country. Over the course of this experience, Mr. Kuryla was responsible for defining and implementing business strategies; reconstructing and optimizing commercial, operative, organizational, and financial models; and monitoring the achievement of management objectives. Mr. Kuryla currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Proenfar, Semiglo, Pisopak, Corporación Mara, and EDYGE and previously served as a board member of Cementos Pacasmayo and Industrias Selva. Mr. Kuryla holds an MBA from Wharton School of Management, a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Miami.
