Bio

Tom has 18 years of experience as a corporate attorney. Immediately prior to joining Alterna, Tom focused on M&A transactions at Boies, Schiller & Flexner. From 2002 to 2012, he served as the General Counsel of Smith Management and then as the General Counsel and a Partner of Plainfield Asset Management, a registered investment advisor that managed in excess of $5 billion, and was responsible for the full range of legal matters, including compliance, for these investment firms. Tom began his legal career as an associate of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. In addition to being the lead attorney on numerous M&A transactions, financings and joint ventures throughout his career, Tom also has extensive experience working with various regulatory agencies, including the SEC. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Columbia College, a Master of Science in Accounting from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School.
