Bio

Mr. Carlberg, a Mexican national, is a founding partner of Alta Growth Capital. He has 37 years of experience in the financial sector in Mexico, Canada and Spain. Prior to joining Alta Growth Capital, Mr. Carlberg was the Senior Partner in Baring Latin America Partners managing investments from three funds (BMPEF, BLAPEF and SAPEGF) in Mexico and South America. Previously, Mr. Carlberg was the Managing Partner of Fians Capital (1998-2000), a local investment banking firm advising in M&A, joint venture, corporate and debt restructurings, as well as strategic projects. Among Mr. Carlberg’s clients were many multinational corporations as well as publicly listed Mexican companies. Previous to Fians, he held partnership and senior management positions at various Mexican financial groups (1992-1997): Deputy Managing Director of Grupo Financiero BanCrecer, Partner of Somoza, Cortina y Asociados (Broker/Dealer), and Senior Vice-President of Grupo Financiero InverMexico. During this period, he held primary management responsibility for companies in the warehousing, insurance and real estate investment fund areas, as well as for a joint venture with The Blackstone Group in M&A advisory. Mr. Carlberg also worked at Bank of Montreal, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Canada, Spain and Mexico, ending as Senior Representative and Mexico Country Manager, overseeing a loan portfolio of over $2.3 billion and participating in the 1987-1988 Mexican public debt negotiations. Mr. Carlberg serves on the board of directors of AGH, La Loma, Teletec, GEB and Maskota. He holds Honours Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in Business Administration from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and has taken multiple Board courses, including the International Executive Program, at IMD, and the Institute of Directors. He speaks English, Spanish, Swedish, and French.
