Bio

Elliot is senior vice president and assistant secretary and deputy general counsel of Allstate Insurance Company. He leads a team of attorneys and paraprofessionals who provide legal advice and support on Allstate’s investments and business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities issuances and business contracts. His team handles the legal, insurance regulatory and investment advisory work required for Allstate’s investments in private placements, private equity funds, mortgage loans, real estate, real estate funds, alternative assets such as timber investments, structured securities, distressed investments and derivatives. Elliot serves as an executive sponsor of Allstate’s employee network group for LGBT employees and their supporters. Prior to joining Allstate, Elliot managed a team of investment professionals at TIAA-CREF in New York City and Charlotte, North Carolina. From 1988 through 1993, he was an associate at Shearman in Sterling in New York City. Elliot earned a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, an MBA from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College. He participates actively in the Association of Life Insurance Counsel, the American Council of Life Insurers, the American College of Investment Counsel and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
