Bio

James is Group Finance Director of 3i Group plc. He was appointed to the Board in May 2022 and is a member of the Executive and Investment Committees. James joined 3i in 2017 and was Group Strategy Director until June 2022. Prior to joining 3i, James was Chief Operating Officer of KKR in Europe and, before that, Co-CEO of Avoca Capital. Earlier in his career, James was a corporate finance professional for 20 years, holding various roles at Freeman & Co., Greenhill & Co. and Schroders. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. James is also the Senior Independent Director of Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He holds a First Class Joint Honours degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Surrey.
