The acquisition represented the opportunity to back an experienced chief executive in building a European plastic packaging group. Guala, a world-wide leader in tamper-proof bottle closures was merged with Polybox, Italy’s leading producer of PET bottles and pre-forms and the group was renamed Guala Closures.
