Bio

Mahmoud Shaltout is a founding partner and head of the Firm’s Litigation Department. He specializes in prosecuting complex litigation disputes across the legal spectrum, especially in relation to intellectual property rights, commercial law, taxation, penal sanctions, corporate crimes, civil matters, and environment before Egyptian ordinary, economic, and Conseil d’Etat (administrative) courts. He represents clients in different proceedings before the judiciary, experts of the Egyptian Ministry of Justice, ministerial committees on settlement of investment disputes, public funds authorities, and tax committees. He is an able and well-versed court litigator, whose successful track record spans the litigation spectrum. He represented major multinational and local companies and banks, including HSBC, NSGB, CIB, NBE, British American Tobacco, Suez Cement Group, Apache Corporation, Cemex, Ciment Français, Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (“EGAS”), EMethanex, SAE, Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding (“ECHEM”), General Cable Egypt, SAE, IBM Middle East, MobiNil, SAE, Port Said East Power Generating Company, Sidi Krir Generating Company, SAE, SODIC, SAE, Suez Canal Container Terminals, SAE, Suez Cement Company, SAE, Suez Gulf Power Generating Company, SAE, Taqa Arabia, SAE, Titan Cement Egypt, SAE, Torah Portland Cement Company, SAE, Total E&P Egypte, Amer Group, KELLOGG, Givaudan, HZPC Holland, PHILLIP MORRIS, MARAKE, and many others. Mr. Shaltout obtained his law degree from Cairo University and is a member of the Egyptian Bar Association, licensed before the Egyptian Court of Cassation, the Supreme Administrative Court, and the High Constitutional Court. He has about 26 years of litigation experience with a proven track record of successful litigation in hundreds of court cases, significant contributions to major arbitration cases, dispute settlements, and landmark mergers and acquisitions in Egypt.
