Bio

Dr. Joachim Heine leads clients through complex public and private mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures, private equity transactions, and venture capital financings with an emphasis on life sciences transactions. During his accomplished career of more than 20 years, he has handled over 100 international projects ranging from multibillion-dollar public takeovers, to mid-size M&A deals and venture capital financing for clients in Germany, Sweden, the United States, China, and Japan. Joachim adeptly tailors solutions to meet each client’s distinctive needs, and serves as a trusted advisor to corporations in the medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotech, media and communication, and financial services sectors. He also brings a unique perspective to his legal work by drawing on his experience as a banker with one of the premier international German banks, and as an in-house lawyer with the investment banking division of a worldwide leading international Swiss bank. Using this relevant background, he applies pertinent insights into the business needs of his clients, and the commercial and financial mechanisms used in complex and high-end M&A projects and venture capital financings. His life sciences and healthcare clients receive comprehensive regulatory advice and benefit from his thorough understanding of their economic environment. Joachim regularly assists clients in shareholder disputes and corresponding civil court and injunction proceedings. Since the outset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Joachim manages distressed M&A projects and distressed financings and work from companies that want to change their business model to support emerging medical technology resources.
