Brian Grieco is a business-focused lawyer and a partner who represents both individual and corporate clients in an array of disciplines, including general corporate, succession planning, debtor and creditor rights, and litigation. Mr. Grieco is known for his ability to analyze complex issues, identify the risks, and develop creative solutions to mitigate those risks. Mr. Grieco began his legal career as a financial restructuring lawyer and has extensive experience in business reorganization, bankruptcy, and insolvency. He has represented business owners, trade creditors, hedge funds, bondholders, commercial banks, and other lenders in bankruptcy cases and out-of-court workouts. He has also represented creditors’ committees and ad hoc committees in major chapter 11 cases. He has experience representing creditors in complex contested matters and adversary proceedings regarding debtor-in-possession financing, lien enforcement and avoidance, executory contract and lease assumption and rejection, the automatic stay, and plan confirmation. Mr. Grieco’s litigation practice focuses on general commercial and insolvency-related litigation. He handles contract disputes, fraudulent conveyance actions, commercial real estate litigation, judgment collection, and disputes between principals of closely-held businesses. He has trial, appeal, and arbitration experience. He appears regularly in federal and state court, including arguing appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Appellate Divisions of the Supreme Court for the State of New York. Mr. Grieco also works closely with the firm’s Trust and Estates attorneys to counsel clients on transaction structure, succession planning, valuation analysis, and related trust and estate planning. He also has experience counseling clients regarding the purchase and sale of businesses, secured lending, corporate and deal structure (including rendering non-consolidation opinions), limited liability companies, shareholder agreements, and general contract and commercial law.
