Bio

Having collaborated with Ughi and Nunziante for around 15 years, in 2015 was Andrea Marega appointed partner, becoming head of the public law, regulation and antitrust team. Andrea has gained consolidated experience in assisting companies, whether under private or public control, in relations with public authorities and in managing market problems. He deals with state aid, commercial practices and all aspects of antitrust law, from the application of national and community merger control regulations, to the management and coordination of merger control of multi-j operations, to the horizontal, vertical or conglomerates of agreements that can be assessed in light of the prohibition on restrictive agreements on competition, to other conduct of companies that can be assessed as potential cartels (concerted practices, conscious parallelism, etc.) or abuses of a dominant position, antitrust compliance programs. As an expert in public law and regulation, Andrea deals in particular with public network services, local and national public services, public procurement, public issues in regulated sectors, including digital services, new technologies, energy and environment, telecommunications, transport and services and products in the pharmaceutical-healthcare sector. Before joining the firm, Andrea worked for over five years in the “Antitrust, Competition and Trade” group of the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. You also gained professional experience at the European Commission, in Brussels, dealing with public research and development procurement and, previously, at the AGCM, where you collaborated on cases of competition and misleading advertising in the telecommunications and audiovisual sectors . He is a research doctor at the Doctoral School in 'Public and Economic Law' of the University of Pisa with a thesis on antitrust law. He graduated with honors from the University of Pisa. He received the award from the Umberto Borsi Institute of Administrative Studies for the best degree thesis in Administrative Law among the Universities of Bologna, Florence, Pisa and Siena for the year 2004. He obtained a master's degree in 'Jurists, consultants and professionals of 'business' at the SP.ISA (School of Specialization in Public Administration Studies) of the University of Bologna. He is the author of several publications on antitrust and administrative law.
