Relentless, responsive, and thorough, J. Mark Dickison is a trial attorney with a practice focused on complex civil litigation, including the varied disciplines of intellectual property, media law, alcoholic beverage regulation, products liability, personal injury, employment law, environmental law and commercial law. He has tried dozens of cases to verdict in state and federal courts in Massachusetts and elsewhere, securing multiple successful jury verdicts, including one of the top three Massachusetts verdicts in 2012. A trial lawyer at Lawson & Weitzen since 1995, Mark’s experience before juries and judges has prepared him to efficiently and effectively implement a litigation plan to achieve his client’s goals. Similarly, with approximately 25 years of legal experience, Mark has addressed almost every type of dispute and ably navigates clients through the most challenging of circumstances. Mark has experience prosecuting and defending the intellectual property rights of emerging businesses and multimillion dollar corporations. Mark litigated a seminal case involving the scope of protection that trademark law and copyright law provide architectural works as well as a case now used in law school textbooks to instruct students on the priority of trademark rights. Representing clients involved in the alcoholic beverage industry, Mark regularly appears before the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission to protect the rights and interests of licensees and challenges and defends those decisions on appeal to the Massachusetts Superior Court and Appellate Courts as necessary. With his in depth knowledge of the industry and his wide-ranging litigation experience, Mark is especially suited to handle all litigation needs for his clients in this arena. Mark’s clients include the American Veterinary Medical Association, Baystate Services, Inc., AbovetheLaw.com, the Martignetti Companies, Cisco Brewers, Duckhorn Vineyards, the Sheehan Family Companies, Southern New Hampshire Health, and Vintus Wines. Recent trial successes include a favorable jury verdict in a personal injury action and a favorable decision in will contest. Mark’s cases have also resulted in decisions from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, First Circuit Court of Appeals, and Massachusetts Appeals Court clarifying the law in a multitude of areas, including alcoholic beverage industry issues. Mark resides with his family in Winchester, Massachusetts, where he is involved in his local community and serves on the Town of Winchester Personnel Board. Mark is an avid boater with a mooring on the Vineyard Sound.
