Bio

Megan Ryther is a partner in Ice Miller’s Business group. She concentrates her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general corporate matters. Prior to joining Ice Miller, Megan worked in the Academic and Membership Affairs group at the NCAA where she primarily focused on student-athlete reinstatement issues and served as a liaison to the Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement. Megan also previously practiced at two law firms in Milwaukee and Chicago where she represented clients in national and multinational mergers and acquisitions and advised clients on federal securities laws, regulatory, compliance and general corporate matters. Megan graduated from Indiana University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in sports marketing and management and was a member of the women’s swimming team. Megan was also a member of the 1998, 2000 and 2003 USA Swimming Open Water World Championship Teams and earned a gold medal in 1998. Megan graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2007 with a juris doctor. While at Marquette, Megan was the Managing Editor for the Marquette Sports Law Review, recipient of the 2007 Joseph E. Tierney, Jr. award and received her Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute. Megan also received her Master of Business Administration from Marquette University College of Business Administration in 2008. Outside of Ice Miller, Megan serves as a member of the local organizing committee for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming, which will be helpd in Indianapolis in June 2024 at Lucas Oil Stadium. Megan previously served as an athlete representative on the U.S. Center for SafeSport Board of Directors (2016-2022), served as chair of the U.S. Center for SafeSport 2019 CEO Search Committee and served as an athlete representative on the USA Swimming Board of Directors (2010-2014). Megan is licensed to practice in the states of Indiana and Illinois.
