Dr. Stefan Schroder heads the global Energy Transition Group of Hogan Lovells. He advises clients in relation to energy regulatory law, energy trading and supply law, emissions trading as well as in relation to renewable energies. Stefan represents clients in court and arbitral proceedings and is frequently involved in M&A-transactions and international projects in the energy sector. He also advises on the regulatory regime for other regulated network infrastructures. Stefan is the global head of Hogan Lovells’ Energy Transition Group and frequently advises clients on the legal regime for low-carbon and renewable fuels. He also advises clients on the regulatory regime for hydrogen infrastructure, and on all other energy law and regulatory aspects relevant for the transformation of energy supply from fossil-based to zero-carbon. He represents companies in front of the regulatory authorities, in complaint proceedings against regulatory decisions as well as in appeal proceedings before the German Federal Court of Justice. He also advises energy companies in civil law disputes incl. representation before ordinary courts and in arbitration. Stefan supports clients in the context of the negotiation and conclusion of trading und supply contracts as well as on compliance with REMIT. He also advises in relation to the legal regime for renewable energies, the development of new trading products and ESG issues. He also advises clients in relation to the EU ETS, the emissions trading regime under German law as well as the use of Voluntary Carbon Credits. Stefan often provides energy law advice in the context of M&A-transactions and international projects in the energy sector. Besides his focus on the energy sector, Stefan also advises clients in relation to other network infrastructures regulated by the German Federal Network Agency. He has experience in relation to the regulation of the railway sector, telecommunications regulation as well as the regulation of the postal sector.
