Bio

Joachim Habetha brings more than 20 years of transactional experience with him. His practice is focused on private equity, corporate finance, corporate M&A and joint ventures as well as corporate restructuring. In particular, his buy-side and sell-side advice on large- and mid-cap private equity buyouts has been acknowledged as a "strong track record in major private equity deals" (Chambers Europe). Also family-owned "Mittelstand" enterprises and family investment vehicles use his wealth of experience. Market participants describe him as "detail-oriented and highly experienced" (Chambers Europe). Whether you conduct an M&A auction or you are in one-on-one negotiations of a transaction, Joachim is at the centre where clients' priorities for economic and legal compounds merge. He brings together our M&A teams across the industry sectors and jurisdictions that are important to you for the relevant transaction; whether full teams from the outset or small teams at the starting line with options to expand as the transaction develops. In addition to his long practicing as an attorney-at-law (Rechtsanwalt), Joachim has also been admitted as a German notary (Notar) in Frankfurt since 2009. Joachim started his professional career as an assistant lecturer with Prof. Dr. Dieter Reuter at the University of Kiel, Germany, where he was awarded a doctor of jurisprudence in 1994 (published with C.F. Müller in 1995). Further, Joachim holds a Master of Laws which he earned at the European University Institute, Florence, in an academic year supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Joachim regularly publishes on selected legal topics. Inter alia, he is a co-author of the commentary on the German Banking Act (KWG) published by C.H.Beck.
