Bio

Guy David is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, practising in the areas of corporate finance and securities, project finance, banking and international law. His practice covers both transaction-oriented assignments and advising on financial regulatory matters. Guy has considerable experience in public and exempt debt capital market transactions, infrastructure, PPP and privatization-related financings. He has acquired extensive industry experience in aviation (aircraft and airport finance), renewable energy financing (hydro, wind and solar) and financial services. He is a co-leader of the Gowling WLG team advising the Canadian Securities Transition Office on the new federal-provincial-territorial initiative currently underway to develop a single cooperative securities regulatory system for Canada. Guy has been named "2016 Lawyer of the Year" for Securities Law (Ottawa) by The Best Lawyers in Canada, and was "2015 Lawyer of the Year" for Banking and Finance. He has been repeatedly recognized for his expertise in banking and finance, securities law and infrastructure by Lexpert and The Best Lawyers in Canada and is recognized in banking and finance by Legal 500 Canada 2016. Guy is the co-author of the 2016 Annotated Bank Act, published by Carswell. He is fully bilingual in French and English.
