Matthew C. Potts joined Steven N. Goudsouzian, LLC in March of 2014. Matthew C. Potts is of counsel to the firm. Matthew C. Potts brings a wealth of experience to the firm especially in the area of criminal defense. Matthew C. Potts was the founder of the Law Offices of Matthew C. Potts, LLC, a law firm located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania that specialized in criminal and civil litigation. Mr. Potts is a lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley. A graduate of Liberty High School and Lehigh University, Mr. Potts obtained his law degree from the Villanova University School of Law. Upon completing law school, Mr. Potts served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable William F. Moran, Administrative Judge for the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas. Since completing his clerkship in 2001, Mr. Potts maintained an active litigation practice focusing on criminal defense, civil litigation and family law. With over 25 jury trials and countless non-jury trials, Mr. Potts has been one of the most active courtroom practitioners in the Lehigh Valley. Mr. Potts has tried matters ranging from Driving Under the Influence to Criminal Homicide, and he is one of the select few Lehigh Valley lawyers certified under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure to try death penalty cases. Mr. Potts has also handled the appeals of criminal clients in the Superior and Supreme Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition to his successful criminal practice, Mr. Potts maintains a significant civil litigation practice handling matters involving contract disputes, personal injury, custody disputes, protection from abuse and municipal law. Mr. Potts has tried countless civil cases and appeared in the Pennsylvania Superior and Commonwealth Court on civil appeals. Mr. Potts is a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Pennsylvania Bar Association, Northampton County Bar Association and Lehigh County Bar Association. In addition to his private practice he has served as an Assistant Solicitor for the City of Bethlehem and an adjunct professor at the Northampton Community College.
