Bio

Gregory Barclay is a partner in Goodwin’s Private Investment Funds group specialising in complex cross-border fund formation and other capital structuring transactions. Greg is chair of the Singapore office and serves on the firm’s Partnership Committee. Greg has been practicing for more than 20 years and for most of this time has been focused on the structuring and establishment of international private investment funds, including private equity, venture capital, credit, infrastructure, real estate and hybrid funds, and related carried interest and management-focused corporate arrangements. In addition, he advises on various investor relations and ongoing fund operation matters and represents institutional investors investing in private funds. Greg also advises on other investment-related matters across the alternative asset classes, including joint ventures, co-investments, segregated accounts, investment management mandates, and complex secondaries/restructuring transactions. Greg is also a member of various of the firm’s innovative practice groups, including the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) & Impact, PropTech, and Secondaries practices. Greg has been named a leading lawyer for Investment Funds (Singapore) by Chambers Asia-Pacific 2023 and has been listed in IFLR1000 2023 as a rising star partner for investment funds. He has been described by interviewees as “calm, practical, approachable and helpful. No question is too much or too little, and he is only ever a phone call away”, noting that “his experience in the market is apparent in his advice, which is always bespoke and appropriate” and that he has “special insights for supporting an international product with global investor base.”
