Michelle Tong is an experienced advisor to private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, specialising in leveraged buyouts, structured equity investments, distressed investments, equity and debt restructurings, joint ventures, management incentive plans and GP stake sales. Michelle has received numerous accolades for her achievements. Most recently, she was named as a Private Equity Rising Star by Financial News (2020); a Future Leader of Private Equity in Private Equity International’s “Future 40” list (2020); a Rising Star, Europe by the International Financial Law Review (2020); a Corporate/M&A/Private Equity Rising Star in Euromoney’s Rising Stars Expert Guide (2021); and a Rising Star and UK Best Up and Coming Female Lawyer by Legal Week (2021). Michelle is also known for her longstanding commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal industry. In addition to speaking and moderating on such topics, Michelle was shortlisted for Mentor of the Year at the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards (2024) in recognition of her contributions to various diversity and mentorship initiatives. Prior to joining Fried Frank, Michelle was a partner at another international law firm.
