Michael Glanz has an active and extensive cross-border practice. He regularly advises U.S. companies and non-profit organizations operating in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, as well as non-U.S. clients with operations in the U.S. and other countries. Michael counsels these clients on cross-border acquisitions and other transactions, joint venture negotiations, and the structuring of multinational business operations. Michael counsels companies in an array of industries including biotechnology, technology and software, healthcare and professional services/consulting. He has advised a foreign government on privatizing assets in a variety of industries and also assists non-profit organizations with their global operations. He chairs Foley Hoag’s International Business Practice and is a past-Deputy Chair of the firm's Business Department. Prior to joining the firm in 1986, Michael served as Attorney-Advisor in the Office of the Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State. His responsibilities included development and presentation of U.S. Government positions in international negotiations and arbitral proceedings. In that capacity he served as a Member of the U.S. Delegation for the U.S.-Ethiopian claims negotiations in Addis Ababa, and as an Adviser to the Agent at the U.S.- Iran Claims Tribunal in the Hague.
