Bio

Ms. Huffstetler concentrates her practice in Intellectual Property, specifically the prosecution of domestic and foreign patents and trademarks. She is a Registered Patent Attorney and a former Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. She specializes in the procurement of patent and trademark protection, enforcement of patents and trademarks, and defense of third-party patents and trademarks. Ms. Huffstetler has significant experience with design patents and utility patents in the medical device, mechanical, electromechanical, textile, and chemical technologies. Her practice includes client counseling in all areas of intellectual property including drafting patentability opinions, trademark registrability opinions, and licensing and business agreements. Additionally, she is experienced in pre-litigation counseling including validity, non-infringement, and design around opinions. Ms. Huffstetler has worked with clients of varying sizes, from large corporations to start-ups, and with clients in diverse technological fields. Ms. Huffstetler is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (Reg. No. 35,038) and is a member of the State Bars of Georgia and North Carolina. While practicing in North Carolina, she served as an Elected Council Member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association from 1998-2001, the Chair of the CLE Committee, member of the Nominating Committee, and editor of the quarterly publication of the Intellectual Property Law Section. Additionally, due to her extensive experience prosecuting design patents on behalf of her clients, Ms. Huffstetler was a selected participant of the U.S. Patent Office Roundtable Discussion on Design Patent Law sponsored by the U.S. Patent Office in 1996.
