Bio

Nivedita Patel (“Ni-vay-dhi-tha Pu-tel”) for innovative and practical solutions to complex transactional, regulatory, and compliance issues. She brings to bear her nearly 10 years of experience as an in-house health care generalist and skilled negotiator to help clients achieve their business strategy and objectives. Academic medical centers, hospitals, physician groups, growing telehealth providers, and other health care clients count on Nivedita to represent them in mergers, acquisitions, consolidations, affiliations, joint ventures, physician alignment transactions, value-based care transactions, and other strategic transactions designed to better position them in the health care marketplace. Buyers and sellers benefit from Nivedita’s experience on both sides of the deal table. She guides clients through the health regulatory issues involved in their health care transactions and also assists clients with all facets of health regulatory due diligence. In addition, Nivedita provides guidance and compliance strategies regarding state and federal health care fraud and abuse laws and regulations, certificates of need, and other federal and state health care regulatory matters. She also has significant experience drafting and negotiating physician employment agreements. For health care startups or companies without in-house counsel capabilities, Nivedita leverages her strong business acumen and real-world legal counseling skills to provide general counsel support that best suits these clients’ business and legal needs. Before transitioning to private practice, Nivedita served as Associate General Counsel of the largest independent, nonprofit, multispecialty physician practice in Washington, DC. In that role, she worked closely with executive leadership to structure and negotiate a variety of complex arrangements with hospitals and physician practice partners. She also participated in working groups related to various initiatives, including the development of new physician compensation models, participation in accountable care organizations, and strategic reviews of ongoing relationships with partner hospitals and a university.
